Hello. We’re back and today we’ll be considering Coping with Independence. Now, you’ve longed for Independence and have finally attained the Independence. What then do you do with it?
This is the dilemma that a lot of youngsters face every single day. You’ve longed for when you will finally leave the confines of your household. Now you’re out there in the open and seemingly lost.
The major bane of Independence is DECISION MAKING. You get to make a lot of new decisions from what brand of toothpaste to choose to the local assembly to worship over to what to cook everyday!
However, the first thing you need to consider is that the world you will most likely face is way different from where you are coming from. Hence, the rules that bound both worlds will be different. Operating your new world with the rules of the previous world will invariably lead to catastrophe. You therefore needs to learn the new rules and live by them.
Work. Work. Work.
In this new dispensation, You have to work harder than you’ve ever worked. Previously, you had people waiting on you and telling you what to do all in a bid to ensure you tread the right path. Here, no one will tell you what to do. You make your decisions and suffers the consequences if any or enjoy the benefits.
Another vital decision you will have to make is to choose the right associations. Back at home, your parents probaly censor your friendships and you’ve gotten quite used to that. However, no one is ready to do that task for you over here. You and you alone will function in that capacity.
